A Tour of the Indian Investment Market is a practical guide designed to help readers understand the world of investing in a simple, structured and relatable way.

Written by Purushottam K. Naik, Co Founder & CEO of Capital Managers, the book takes readers on a journey from the basic meaning of investment to more advanced concepts such as stock selection, mutual funds, asset allocation, portfolio building, market cycles, economic indicators, hedging, risk management and investor psychology.

The book begins with an engaging story, “The Lottery That Taught Two Families About Money,” which introduces an important idea: protecting money is necessary, but meaningful long term wealth also requires growth. From there, each chapter explains financial concepts using simple language, practical situations, examples and familiar characters, making the subject easier to understand even for first time investors.

Readers will explore investment options including bank deposits, debt instruments, gold, real estate, the stock market, unlisted and pre IPO shares, and mutual funds, while also learning how to select investments according to their goals, time horizon and risk capacity.

The later sections go deeper into portfolio construction, diversification, asset allocation, risk management, market cycles, economic indicators, discipline, fear and greed, and common investor mistakes. The book also includes practical checklists, a 30 day action plan and a trading journal to help readers convert financial knowledge into disciplined action.

Rather than focusing on shortcuts, tips or promises of quick returns, A Tour of the Indian Investment Market focuses on understanding how money works, how different investment options behave and how better financial decisions can be made with patience, knowledge and discipline.

Suitable for: Beginners, students, salaried professionals, business owners, new investors and anyone who wants to build a practical understanding of the Indian investment market.
